YEARLY LIBRARY ACTIVITIES

Favorite Book Election Week

During the month of October, one week is set aside to conduct a schoolwide Favorite Book Election.

Students and classes nominate books that they would like to see as candidates in the election. The three books with the highest number of nominating votes become the candidates in the election which is held on the Friday of Favorite Book Week.

On Election Day, each student receives a ballot to cast his/her vote. Votes are tallied Friday afternoon, and the winner is announced Monday morning.

National Children’s Book Week

A themed reading program is conducted during Children’s Book Week each year. Children are to complete the reading of eight books, turn in the reading lists in order to receive various prizes.

In addition, we schedule a "Book Character Dress-Up Day" when students and staff are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favorite book character.

National Library Week

A themed reading program is also conducted during Library Week. The themes vary from year to year.

Children’s Choice

Our school participates in the state Children’s Choice program. This takes place during January and February. The librarian reads the books to the children, and they vote whether they judge it to be fantastic, good, or bad. Results are returned for inclusion in state voting.
